This is a terrific spot, nestled in the woods just an hour from Portland. It's very convenient to the ski resorts of Mt. Hood, and offers great comforts after a day on the slopes. The rooms are beautiful - very modern, great fixtures, tons of towels, clean, gleaming. The restaurant (Altitude) is excellent both in quality and price. Service is very good in all respects. No wi-fi, so bring an ethernet cable for your laptop. (In my opinion, hotel should supply this or install wi-fi.) I found the room rates in February to be an extraordinary value.

. . . cozy but modern feel . . .

We just spent last weekend (1/24/10) there and really enjoyed our stay. The place was remodeled well and has a cozy but modern feel to it. The rooms are very well appointed and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've slept in. The restaurant has a great variety of foods at a decent price for a hotel and for the quality of the dishes that were more like something you'd order at Hotel 50 in Portland…Would definitely stay there again.

Since Coastal Hotels has taken over, all rooms have been refurbished and upgraded as well as the hotel lobby and restaurant. The food is pretty darn good, too. My last visit was quite pleasant and all of the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable.

The Resort offers 27 holes of golf and if you're a skier or snow boarder, the slopes are just minutes up the hill. Nestled in the foothills of Mt. Hood, Welches is a lovely mountain community and offers many amenities and services.

Oh. Don't forget their Sunday brunch. Try it. You'll like it!

"I wanted to let you know what a fantastic time we had at your Resort and the wedding in particular. Even though we chose to have a small reception and did not spend a large amount of money, your attention to the smallest detail was superb. We all felt that the best you had to offer was provided. I would also like to thank Chellee for the beautiful flowers. With just a few phone conversations and a couple of pictures, she provided exactly the flowers we wanted.

Further thanks goes to your chef and catering staff, we heard nothing but praise for the food served at the reception. Also the servers were extremely polite and friendly to everyone at the reception. It seemed as if they truly enjoyed their job.

Finally, I want to tell you how wonderful the entire hotel staff was to everyone, not only those in our party. I overheard the front desk staff with other guests and they were courteous and friendly to everyone. This on top of the beautiful rooms made us wish we had planned to stay longer at your resort. I have done nothing but rave about the entire four days to everyone back here in Illinois . I know that the local people were very impressed with The Resort and are making plans to return in the future.
