SASQUATCH COMES TO LIFE WITH A WEEKEND OF STORIES, DINING AND EXPLORING AROUND MT. HOOD
The Resort at The Mountain presents “Wild Nights: A Wilderness Big Enough for Bigfoot”
WELCHES (Mt. Hood), Ore. – (October 29, 2012) - Located along the western slope of Mt. Hood, The Resort at The Mountain provides a likely terrain for Sasquatch sightings and a cozy lodge atmosphere for regaling tales of the elusive creature. The Resort offers a weekend of drama, science, folklore and exploration with “Wild Nights: a Wilderness Big Enough for Bigfoot” at 7:30 p.m. on November 16th in partnership with the Wy’east Book Shoppe & Art Gallery.
On November 16, 2012, guests at The Resort will have several opportunities to join the search for Sasquatch with “Wild Nights.” Authors Robert Michael Pyle, a noted scientist and nature writer, and Molly Gloss, an honored Oregon novelist, will share their ideas of Bigfoot and the wilderness with guests in the Trail Meeting Rooms at mallards café & pub. Drawing from his time spent in the Dark Divide, the largest road-less area in western Washington state and center of Bigfoot lore, Pyle will bring Bigfoot to life with passages from his book “The Dark Divide: Where Bigfoot Walks.” Gloss will explore the meaning of wilderness and the human response to it, as she draws from her experiences writing her novel “Wild Life.” Tickets are $15 per person for adults and $7.50 for children under 12, and are available for purchase at Wy’east Book Shoppe & Art Gallery.
To satisfy an appetite as big as Bigfoot himself, The Resort’s casually upscale Altitude restaurant is offering a special “Wilderness Menu,” a three-course meal inspired by the region and featuring Spinach and Hood River Apple Salad with charred cheddar cheese, cipollini onion and warm bacon dressing; choice of braised Bigfoot Short Ribs with creamy goat cheese grits and roasted root vegetables or Wild Mushroom Ragout with potato gnocchi, Oregon blue cheese and balsamic reduction; and Huckleberry Sorbet with lemon cake and ginger tuile. The “Wilderness Menu” is available Friday, November 16th for $25 per person.
Additionally, guests at The Resort can join the fun with the Sasquatch Package, which includes an amenity kit containing a compass, trail maps and snacks so guests can venture out into the foothills of Mt. Hood to find proof that Bigfoot is alive and well, as well as dinner for two from the “Wilderness Menu” and overnight accommodations at The Resort. The first guest to return to The Resort with credible proof, as confirmed by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, on or before Dec. 31, 2012, will be awarded a one-week stay at The Resort in 2013. The package rate starts at $159 and does not include event tickets (available here) and is valid only on November 16th.
