CHEFS AND FOODIES GO WILD ABOUT GAMEThe Resort at The Mountain celebrates Nicky USA’s 10th Annual Wild About Game Festival

WELCHES (Mt. Hood), Ore. – (Aug. 5, 2010) – The Resort at The Mountain (The Resort), a premier golf, spa and ski destination located in the western highlands of Mt. Hood, is pleased to offer the “Wild About Game” package in celebration of Nicky USA’s 10th Annual Wild About Game Festival taking place onSunday, September 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This year’s annual “Wild About Game” event celebrates ten of the region’s best award-winning chefs in an “Iron Chef” style cooking competition and also features educational food demonstrations, wine tastings and culinary seminars. Pacific Northwest chefs will square off using various game birds and meats from local family farms and ranches in a friendly cooking competition.

Chefs will use their creative talents to improvise a dish featuring a “secret ingredient” – anything from Nicky Farms quail to buffalo – to impress the panel of culinary judges. This year’s judges include Philippe Boulot of the Heathman Restaurant and Bar, Vitaly Paley of Paley’s Place and Jonathon Sundstrom of Lark in Seattle. The festival will also feature food and wine pairings at the culinary marketplace and cooking demonstrations by last year’s cook-off chefs David Kreifels of Laurelhurst Market, Phil Oswalt of the Multnomah Athletic, Morgan Brownlow of Tails & Trotters and Keith Balzor of Silvies Valley Ranch.

“We’re excited to be the host for this great event once again,” said Frank Casarez, general manager of The Resort. “Food enthusiasts learn about and sample delicious ways to prepare a variety of game, while chefs see the cooking competition as an opportunity to showcase their creative talents in dish invention.”

In honor of the event’s tenth anniversary, special guests include meat guru Bruce Aidells and his award-winning wife Nancy Oaks, who will be signing copies of their cookbooks. The Resort’s Executive Chef Paul Bosch will also prepare a Wild Game Dinner Buffet at 5:30 p.m.

For guests who would like to stay the night, The Resort is offering the “Wild About Game” package, which includes two passes to the culinary marketplace complete with cooking demonstrations and dinner for two at the Wild Game Dinner Buffet, in addition to overnight accommodations at The Resort on Sunday, September 19.

Admission to the “Wild About Game” marketplace is $25 per person and reservations for the Wild Game Dinner Buffet are $55 per person. Tickets to attend both the culinary marketplace and dinner are $75 per person. Tickets are available at The Resort’s “Wild About Game” package starts at $229 for two people and includes admission to the marketplace, dinner for two and overnight accommodations after the event.
