THE RESORT AT THE MOUNTAIN DEBUTS THE SPA
Region’s newest spa features distinctive water feature, natural element inspired treatments and contemporary Northwest design
WELCHES (Mt. Hood), Ore. – (August 18, 2009) – The Resort at The Mountain (The Resort), a premier golf, spa and ski destination located in the western highlands of Mt. Hood, is pleased to announce the grand opening of The Spa. As part of its $14 million renovation and expansion, The Resort will open The Spa to hotel guests and visitors on Thursday, August 20.
Nestled in The Resort’s 300 acre property of lush evergreen forests, The Spa combines the natural elements found in the mountain flora with the healing traditions of indigenous inspired cultures. The five elements that define The Spa’s natural surroundings and characterize the region are reflected in spa treatments such as the Salmon River Rock Massage, Purifying Green Tea Facial, Alpine Purification Body Polish, Himalayan Salt Exfoliation and Earth Cocoon Body Wrap.
The Spa is managed by Spa Director Joan Southon, who oversees the full service 3,500 square foot facility featuring seven treatment rooms including three massage rooms, a skin care treatment room, a wet treatment room with a Vichy shower, a deluxe doubles treatment room with an oversized two-person soaking tub and a manicure/pedicure room. The facility also includes separate steam rooms for men and women, a garden reflection area and a distinctive water feature, symbolic of the many waterfalls in the region.
“The Spa provides an indulgent escape for guests staying at The Resort for meetings, weddings, golf getaways, ski vacations and more,” said Frank Casarez, general manager of The Resort at The Mountain. “We’re so pleased to add Joan Southon to our team; she’ll provide guests with an exceptional and memorable spa experience.”
A native of Seattle, Wash., Spa Director Joan Southon brings 13 years of experience in the spa industry, most recently serving as the general manager of Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary in Freestone, Calif. Prior to that, Southon was the director of Salish Lodge & Spa, where under her direction, the resort received many prestigious accolades, including appearances on Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List, Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s 500 World’s Best Hotels.
To celebrate the debut of its new spa, The Resort at The Mountain is offering the Couple’s In-room Massage package, which includes a 50-minute in-room couples’ massage in the privacy of spacious, highly appointed Fireside Studio accommodations. The overnight package starts at $289 per night and is available now through October 31, 2009 (price does not include resort fee, tax or gratuity).
